Sunday Schools were first setup in the 1790s as an opportunity for working children to learn how to read, write, cypher, and learn the Bible. Today, Sunday Schools aim to continue that purpose in educating God’s word. Calvary Road Baptist Church offers Sunday School every Sunday morning at 10am.
Calvary Road Baptist Church operates a 40 foot bus seating up to 72 servicing the Indian Head/Bryantown area. The purpose of the bus ministry is to carry out the great commission: (1) winning people to Jesus Christ, (2) baptizing the converts, and (3) discipling the converts. The practice of the bus ministry is to get unchurched children to ride the bus and taught the word of God through Sunday School and Junior Church. The bus ministry also conducts follow-ups on riders that make professions of faith and assist in their understanding of the plan of salvation. In the process of discipling children, the bus ministry also invites and presents the gospel to parents with the goal of seeing the whole family saved and serving the Lord. Luke 14:23 – And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
Junior Church is led by Brother Joshua (Josh) Castor and his wife Sarah. Brother Josh was saved at Vacation Bible School at the age of 9 and rededicated his life to preach in 2006 while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He married his wife Sarah several months later and they have three beautiful daughters, Rebekah, Emma, and Hannah. Brother Josh has a tremendous burden for the salvation of children and the lasting effect that Christ can have on their life. Proverbs 22:6 – Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Brother Albert Alston and his wife Melissa teach the Master Club program with a zeal for evangelizing children, discipling them toward spiritual growth, and teaching and training them to serve Jesus Christ. Master Club is held on Wednesday nights from 7pm – 8:30pm. The program coincides with the school year and provides an opportunity for participants to rally, learn challenging Bible lessons, apply God’s word through projects, have fun with Bible games, and receive awards for their hard work. Participants also have the opportunity to utilize what they’ve learned through regional competitions held every Spring, competing in team Bible events, individual Bible events, preaching, Bible storytelling, Bible object lessons, Christian writing, Christian art, Instrumental & Vocal Music, and Athletic events. Come join us for an amazing year in glorifying our God. Matthew 23:10 – “…for one is your Master, even Christ.”
The nursery is entrusted with the most important members of the church family. There is no greater treasure on this side of Heaven than the little ones God has given us. Service in the church nursery allows our church goers to focus on worship. The nursery welcomes you with friendly greetings and exceptional care of each child. Nursery workers spend several minutes praying over the children in their care, creating an environment of spiritual nurturing. The church nursery is available on Sundays during all services and Wednesday nights during midweek service. Psalms 127:3 – Lo, children [are] an heritage of the LORD: [and] the fruit of the womb [is his] reward.
The Sound Ministry strives to glorify God by both reaching out to the lost with the message of the Gospel of Christ and edifying believers with the Truth of God. This is done through the many speakers, instrumentalists, and vocalists presented in the best possible audio and video quality to enhance the service experience for the attendee and prepare the attendee for the work of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God. The sound ministry is connected in the sanctuary, junior church, nursery, and online. Sound technicians are pursuing God’s best through technical excellence in their provision of the sound. Colossians 3:23-24 – And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.
